Ratings Roundup for the Week of April 9, 2023

NBC surprised no one by renewing the One Chicago and various Law & Order shows last week. The only interesting aspect of the renewal news was the lack of multi-year deals for any of the six shows. The Peacock also premiered Weakest Link and The Wall last week. Both shows started off about where they ended last summer. Night Court was down four hundred thousand viewers. American Auto lost half a million viewers last week. Grand Crew barely scraped a million viewers and is done.

ABC had a quiet week. Station 19 was up two hundred thousand viewers.  Back-to-back episodes of Grey's Anatomy lost two hundred thousand viewers. The Good Doctor was up one hundred thousand viewers. The show should be renewed considering ABC is planning a spin-off. Don't be surprised though if that's the last season. The Company You Keep lost one hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. Not Dead Yet was even and could squeak a renewal.

FOX ran very little scripted content last week. 9-1-1 returned after a couple of weeks off, up one hundred thousand viewers. 9-1-1: Lone Star also gained one hundred thousand sets of eyeballs. Assuming FOX doesn't plan to completely gut its scripted slate of shows, both should be easily renewed. Fantasy Island returned after nearly a month off, down half a million viewers. If the show is renewed, it will likely be pushed off to summer. Animal Control lost two hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. Its future will be determined more by what, if any, half-hour shows FOX keeps for next season. Right now, however. things do not look good for it to return.

The CW cancelled Whose Line but seems to be doubling down on other improv/unscripted comedy shows with less-than-stellar results. The Great American Joke Off picked up one hundred thousand viewers. Totally Weird and Funny barely scraped three hundred thousand viewers last week and likely won't last. Gotham Knights dropped one hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. It really needed to be doing better to survive the next NexStar purge.
