Schedule and Calendar in your local timezone

Thousands of votes have been cast on our list of Pending Features, but with almost 3 times as many votes as the runner-up, it's clear what you wanted most of all: episode air times converted to your local timezone.

As a special christmas gift to all of our users, today we're announcing the completion of this feature!

If you're logged in to TVmaze while you're reading this, we've already attempted to automatically detect the timezone you reside in. The automatic match might not be correct for everyone (your browser reports your current timezone offset to us, but not the exact location part, which is needed to be able to apply the correct Daylight Saving Time rules) so head over to your preferences to correct your timezone if necessary.

If your timezone is properly filled in and the "local timezone" checkbox is checked, the airtime for episodes will start appearing on the calendar; local to your timezone:

Here you can see the result in this week's calendar for someone living in London. This week's The Librarians episode airs on December 27 at 8PM in the United States, which converts to 1AM the next day in London time. Alternatively, the show And Then there Were None premieres in the United Kingdom so its original time is listed on your calendar.

The schedule has been equipped with the same functionality: if this feature is enabled, all airtimes will be converted to your local timezone automatically.

We hope this functionality will make TVmaze even more enjoyable for all of our users. Don't hestitate to give your feedback here or in our forums; and don't forget to cast your votes to help influence what we'll release next.

Happy holidays from the entire TVmaze team!

@David. Yep. That's right. Cool. Sorry, I meant to message you then... my computer crashed and I got distracted by the world. Thank you. (from all of us.)

@david That would be great. Thank you. :-)

David...thanks for the fix

@stark_world @Raven_Sirius Both of your issues should be fixed :)

@vBm The calendar highlighting the current day predates the timezone integration and is based merely on the date your browser is reporting. I'll look into making it possible to override that with your timezone setting.

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but calendar isn't set to predefined timezone.

On schedule it's correct tho.

Current local time is 1am. Timezone is set to -7 so it's 5pm. Schedule displays info for "Monday January 04" as it should, while calendar is highlighting shows for Tuesday already.

Oh, I see what you mean with the 9:06, I'll fix that soon. That shouldn't affect the actual functionality though; right?

I'll test your scenario soon as well, @stark_world :)

Awesome, thank you!

Two things: 1. #stark_world, I think the weekday differential may be in the user settings for weekday start sunday/monday. But this should be accounted for server side, by right, to adapt to the user preference.

2. #david in the time zone settings pulldown Eastern Seaboard Australia is set to +9.06 hours. I was under the impression that we Aussies were on +10GMT. Where are you taking your timestamp from, (because I'm too lazy to work it out at the moment!) as it is slighltly confusing to see it represented the way it is... just saying :)

Otherwise :) this is great. Thank you.

Thanks for adding...great stuff!

Not sure if its the same for everyone but my Calendar and Schedule don't line up.

Setting the time zone to Australia/Sydney and using the show Bordertown S01E01, as an example, with original air date of Sunday 3 Jan at 21:30...it appears correctly in my Calendar as Monday 4 Jan at 13:30 but incorrectly in the Schedule as Sunday 3 Jan at 13:30

regards
