Episode Discussion

First of all, Jenna Ortega was amazing. But I don't think I enjoyed the presentation of the story/plot, I didn't find any of the essence of the Addams family other than the characters themselves. What I mean is that you could take theem out and it would be like any other show. It seemed like a mix between Legacies and Riverdale. And while it was fun (especially Wednesday's dialogue) and i understand that in the world of the Addams family anything supernatural is more than possible, I always like that it's in the details and that the central idea is that they're the weird ones. I don't know how to take this werewolf, vampire, monster thing. But well, I understand that Netflix takes the usual formula that always works for them and targets a teen audience. Let's see how the rest of the season goes.

I enjoyed the 1st episode in the series, don't care for the new Gomez, however it looks like they were going off the original Charles Addams cartoons where Gomez was portrayed more squat and dumpy than in the tv series and later movies. I like the mystery to the series and Wednesday's normal teenage rebellion against the parental stereotype.

Story is very enjoyable and the mystery gives it a little extra. Casting however is sad. The only accurate characters so far are Lurch and Thing. Jenna does a great job of portraying the gloomy and sarcastic Wednesday. Sadly she looks too old to play a 15 year old.

Generally I liked, however the lead was too old for the part (still did a good job), The casting for Gomez, Morticia and Pugsly - just was comically wrong - a caricature grotesque

still enjoyable.
