‘One Day At a Time’ Canceled By Pop

Almost two years after Netflix canceled One Day at a Time after three seasons, the praised reimagining of Norman Lear’s beloved 1970s sitcom is losing its network home again. And, just like it did in the spring of 2018, the studio behind the reboot, Sony Pictures TV, plans to shop the series to other outlets.

‘One Day At a Time’ Saved As Pop Picks Up Praised SPT Comedy Series For Season 4

It took a little while but CBS Corporation and Sony Pictures TV have been able to reach a deal, giving acclaimed multi-camera family comedy One Day At a Time a new home on Pop. The basic cable network has ordered 13-episode fourth season to debut in 2020, likely launching off the final season of Pop’s flagship comedy series Schitt’s Creek. Additionally, the network has acquired the linear rights to the first three seasons of One Day at a Time.

India de Beaufort & Alex Quijano To Recur In Season 3

Veep alum India de Beaufort and Fresh Off The Boat’s Alex Quijano have joined the recurring cast for the upcoming third season of Netflix’s One Day At A Time. De Beaufort will play Avery, the new love interest of her real-life husband Todd Grinnell’s character Schneider in their first on-screen romance. Quijano takes over the role of Mateo, in a recasting. Mateo is a dad friend of Penelope’s (Justina Machado) from school, who turns into something more.

Co-Creator Gloria Calderon Kellett Set To Recur & Direct On Season 3

Gloria Calderon Kellett will be stepping in front of the camera to bring more drama to the Alvarez family on the upcoming third season of the Netflix comedy series. She will do a two-episode arc on the show as a Nicole, the new woman in Victor’s (James Martinez) life, who is more similar to Penelope than she is comfortable with. Additionally Calderon Kellett will direct the final two episodes of season three.
