I don't know how far you guys have gotten, but this can be done reasonably quickly be utilizing tag data to match like / similar shows.

Tags are personal and you have to add them to each show manually, so they're not suitable for showing similar shows.
Don't worry, it hasn't been forgotten about, it's just not as straightforward as you might think.
Would be great to see this exposed in the API as well.
