Foreign Languages allowed or not allowed?

I was told that Foreign Language summaries are not allowed here at tvmaze because they are not supported. Why are they not supported and what needs to be done to support Foreign languages anyways to be able to translate them to insure they are correct, accurate and not faked? Everyone has access these days to a Foreign translator on/for their PC's at no charge. I have one built into my PC, I have no clue how it got there but it comes in very handy. I have very little to no computer, Internet skills or knowledge yet whenever I open a page anywhere on the Internet that is not in English my PC pops up a translator and asks me if I want it to be translated or not? So there is really no excuse not to allow Foreign Language summaries here is there other than maybe prejudice maybe?

I propose that Foreign language summaries not only be allowed but each show with a Foreign Language summary on it also includes the translated English version of the summary as well. I did this on a show that airs on Telemundo in the U.S. but airs in Spanish. Not only was the Spanish summary removed but i was told Foreign Languages are not supported. I say this needs to be voted on by the members of the site to decide if they want to see Foreign Language summaries or not? Also should each show get 2 summaries if the show language is not in English?

I have told on previous occasions to other users that I am not particularly fan of having a non-English summary being included. Giving an option to allow foreign summaries would result in foreign shows having only a summary in their own language and would be impossible to read for foreigners and aren't we here to promote series? Promoting series by summaries we can't even read isn't really helpful in my opinion.

The idea of having two summaries in English and Foreign language may be nice, but in practical terms it simply doesn't work out as it is suppose to be. TVrage did allow it and in my experience this was a complete disaster.

The only way I think it would work is to give an option for TVmaze to be read in foreign languages, but this would be very time consuming and needs a major overhaul, which I personally think is not worth yet as we have other priorities.

oh yeah Ron, these translators are unreliable as fuck.

From what i've seen. Tvrage had this feature but had barely any translations and was kind of obscure. We still haven't done any research to figure out what the right approach is for this and how many users would actually use it.

Right now we only want English as the default language. Once we decide to move forward with multiple languages, we'll still have to do a checkup to rectify any translations that aren't in english and move them to the correct language. We wish to keep this at a minimum.

That means, only english for now.
