I'd like to suggest TVMaze allow obits as stand alone news or, at least, allow them to be added to a show.
As an example, I just posted a comment about Gene Reynolds passing. I'd like to add it as a stand alone news item that appears on the front page or at least as a news item for the TV show MASH ... although others may select a different TV show which is why I'd prefer stand alone.
