For instance on the first season of "The Boys": 5 episodes show the average voting score accurate to one decimal. The other 3 have no decimal places at all, not even a decimal separator.

That was my first thought as well. But I choose a season with a lot of votes, several episodes have over a hundred. So the expectation would be that (on avergage) 1 in 10 ends in 0, not 3 in 8.
All is well. I double-checked for one of the episodes, and the average vote is 8.0421, which is indeed simply displayed as "8".
