If you, like many fans, have stopped watching the Walking Dead, please come back for this season

Because I truly believe it was one of the best.

With Mad Men ending, Breaking Bad over, there isn't much left for AMC besides The Walking Dead, but I do believe that they have invested enough money and time into this show to bring it back from the awfulness it once was. I also just found out, after googling The Walking Dead that there's a spinoff show within the works, Yikes. With that and Better Call Saul AMC may be dying for a shot of some original content.

But that's neither here nor there. For those of who don't know what The Walking Dead is, follows a group of survivors after a zombie outbreak has occurred. With Rick Grimes, former sheriff and de facto leader, played by Andrew Lincoln, the show follows the group including Carl Grimes, Rick's son played by Chandler Riggs, Glenn, played by Steven Yeun, Michonne, one of my personal favorites, played by Danai Gurira, Maggie, Played by Lauren Cohan, Beth, sister to Magge, played by Emily Kinney, Carol, played by Melissa McBride, and Daryl, my all time favorites, played by Norman Reedus. This group is tough and has faced many challenges throughout the 5 seasons it has been running and it, I believe, was one of the first shows to have a mid-season finale, and this one was one of the saddest but one of the best put together. This season, all around was fantastic.

It's like the writers took a step back and said, "Hey we have these characters that the viewers don't really know a lot about, so why don't we, I don't know, develop them a little bit". And develop them they did, with cuts back to instances where characters were on their own or the origins of characters prior to meeting the group, this season was chock full of back story, which I believe is fantastic. It was one of the best aspects of Lost and I think that many shows need to develop their characters or else audiences lose interest.

This season also includes some great zombie kills, including one in which a zombie's eyes are plucked out and his head is used as a weapon. It also had quite the variety of zombies from burn victim zombies to water zombies.

It also included an element that I'm not sure the writers really planned on including. In this season, the group encounters another set of individuals who work at a hospital, protecting it while caring for those in need. The individuals who do the protecting are police officers and the individuals who do the caring are people who have ended up in the hospital and are usually exploited by the police officers. In various scenes throughout this show, there are instances where the police officers abuse their power, threaten others with a gun, and are all around cruel individuals. With the most recent grand jury decisions, regarding Michael Brown and Eric Garner, it would be stupid to think that people's views on police officers haven't changed. Well how they are depicted in The Walking Dead, isn't much better, but watch the season and I assure you a little justice is served.

So watch this season! The mid-season finale was fantastic and I imagine that the entire season finale will be equally fantastic.
