Ratings Roundup for the Week of February 23, 2025

NBC premiered three new shows last Sunday. The Tom Hanks-narrated documentary series, The Americas, opened strong with back-to-back episodes. A new version of Suits, Suits: LA, opened with middling numbers. Its ratings will need to improve at least a little if it wants to see a second season. Grosse Point Garden Society opened low. If it doesn't pick up more viewers, it won't last past its initial episode order. The Hunting Party settled at the low end of the ratings chart, but might be renewed. Fans of The Irrational should enjoy the remaining few episodes. The show will likely be cancelled at the end of the season.

ABC ran very little original programming last week. The Rookie was down two hundred thousand viewers, but will probably be renewed. Shifting Gears lost nearly a million viewers after taking a week off. Abbott Elementary was also down, losing four hundred thousand viewers. Will Trent and The Bachelor were even with the previous week.

CBS wrapped the first season of Hollywood Squares last week. The game show lost almost two million viewers after it was renewed. Watson picked up three hundred thousand viewers. Its chances for renewal have been low, but that little bump might have helped. Poppa's House and NCIS returned after a week off, even with their last new episodes. Fans of Fire Country must have been out celebrating the show's renewal. It was down two hundred thousand viewers. SWAT was up two hundred thousand viewers. The Shemar Moore-led series has survived two cancellations. No word yet on if it will be back again next season.

FOX renewed freshman drama Doc for a second season and Next Level Chef for two more seasons last week. The network also announced a holiday spin-off series, Next Level Baker for next season. Extracted picked up two hundred thousand viewers last week. The Sunday animation block returned last week to abysmal numbers. Animal Control lost one hundred thousand viewers it couldn't afford. Going Dutch was even. Neither show is likely to be renewed.

CW limped along for another week. Good Cop/Bad Cop lost two hundred thousand viewers off its premiere. Its chances for renewal are slim. All American picked up a few tens of thousands of viewers. Don't hold your breath for it to be renewed either. The network seems far more interested in imported content and cheaper 'reality' programming over original scripted content.

Yep I just saw that. Talk about a bombshell. Was not expecting that. I suspect this means The Equaliser and Watson, two shows that could have gone either way, might be renewed now. And there's always SWAT in the mix. That show has been officially cancelled twice and then brought back.
