TVmaze, What's The Future?

Hi everyone,

A small blog about the current state of TVmaze and its future.

The TVmaze Premium Packages were launched today. We talked extensively about it in our previous blog (if you'd like to read more about it click here).

Some of the most requested pending features that have been added to the package are.

  • Week Calendar (most requested user feature)
  • Personal API (Developer feature)
  • More Privacy, No tracking
  • Disabling ads (and support TVmaze)

In the coming weeks more features such as the 'Countdown page' will be added to Premium as early access features. If there are things you'd like to see added we encourage you to post it in the forums.

For more details about the Personal API and its endpoints click here. You can for example use it to manage your favorite shows and watched episodes using an external system such as a media center. Srob650 has already been playing around with some of its capabilities. We look forward seeing what other users do with the API as well.

We also got a couple of messages from users who forgot to enter the 'PREORDER' discount code when purchasing Premium. If you're one of these users then email us at contact |at| tvmaze.com with the subject: 'preorder premium discount'. We will be applying the discount retroactively for everyone* who mails us this week. The deadline is next sunday (2 October 2016)

*everyone who purchased Premium during the pre-sales and didn't receive the offered discount.

In a couple of days it will also be TVmaze's 2nd aniversary. I still remember 2 years ago when a couple of us were talking about kickstarting the site. Imagining what it could become. Running around, gathering others that would be interested in the project, explaining what our goals were. Knowing that this was only possible if we gathered enough optimists and realists. :)

David and I (Jan) are very happy that we are able to share this milestone with everyone on TVmaze. Almost everyone who kickstarted the site is still with us. And so many of you have joined our mission as well to make TVmaze the most reliable TV source on the internet. And with great care and attention to detail this is gradually becoming a reality. In the two years that TVmaze has been online, information for more than 21000 shows has been added, with new information coming in at every hour of the day.

We would also like to thank everyone involved in the edit requests thread. On average action is taken after 5 to 50min of a request. Ensuring that TVmaze has the best response time of any TV database out there.

So much praise we could write about you all. But We'll just end it with a sincere thank you.

Let's continue making TVmaze the best TV site out there.

Congratulations on your second anniversary. Most new web sites (or new businesses) do not last 6 months.
