The Tick's origin is unknown, as are the full extent of his powers. He has no memory of any past, and seems to have been born to fight crime. The Tick has no secret identity, and apparently no way to remove his costume. He has superhuman strength, speed, and invulnerability, superior to even that of the City's resident world's greatest superhero, The Champion. The antenna atop his head respond to his emotional state, but don't seem to have any powers.
If the Tick has a weakness, it his lack of understanding of just about... everything. He can easily be outsmarted, although just as often his inability to respond to his opponents means that he carries through when other heroes would be hopelessly confused. The Tick doesn't seem to grasp the concept of reality and has no understanding of death, sex, the legal system, privacy, or secret identities. He often tunes out when someone tries to explain these things to him, so that all he hears is "Blah blah blah."
Despite all this, the Tick is loyal to his friends and will fight criminals no matter how large or small the crime.
