Iola Lucille Boylan

Iola has been around The Harper Family her entire life. She also went to the same school with Naomi. She is nowhere near as eccentric as Eunice, and even disapproves of Eunice's destructive antics. She has eyes for only Vinton, which would make her an official legal relative of The Harper Family. She would literally be able to assume the last name of Harper. After Aunt Fran is written out of the show permanently, Iola is depicted as spending much time with The Harpers, assisting Thelma. A Double Home Economics And Psychology Major, Iola learns as many skills, crafts, and hobbies as Aunt Fran. However, while Aunt Fran's hobbies are sensible, Iola's are bizarre, and annoying. She even goes as far as decorating vacuum cleaners during Christmas. Meanwhile, Iola is the best cook around. Iola's personal life is even worse than Thelma's. She lives with her lazy parents. Her family fights even more than The Harper / Crowley Family. It is so bad that they are noticeably plotting each other's deaths. Iola was going to help Bubba pierce his ear with a large needle and then proceeded to maul an orange with it. A noticeable skill is being a typist. Another noticeable skill that Iola has is being a professional transportation driver. She wears matching very extremely homely outfits not unlike Thelma's. Her hairstyle is not unlike Thelma's, and hair decorations also, and wears a short sleeved dress. The reason for the constant short sleeves is for ease in cleaning and other tasks. Both of them wear a comfortable coat around their shoulders with just the top ends of the coats fastened, as if they were scarves. The only difference is that Thelma's dress is lavender and floral, with Iola's outfit being pink. Iola is free to let her self in side, which includes entering the back door, and Ellen's Fanny Tuck Surgery room after hours. She cordially announces her self by singing Knock Knock!! The Boylan Family fights more than ever during Holidays, so she opts to stay with The Harper Family. Despite being the same age as Thelma's children, she refers to Thelma by her first name. However, Naomi goes about it very politely calling Thelma as "Miz Harper" because it depends on how they met. Otherwise Iola can easily be associated as a Harper as if she is one of them. Iola has a pet goldfish Herman, and advocated for Leland The Goose. There are some times that both Iola and Thelma save the day. Other times she helped brighten Thelma's day.
