Joe Beresford

Before he was even born Joe caused waves in Skelthwaite. His Parents Tom and Emily were only teenagers when he was conceived and they left the area under a cloud. Despite this Joe grew up with both his parents until Emily died in childbirth giving birth to his sister Molly.

When he was 18 Tom, Joe and Molly came back to Skelthwaite and Joe made quite an impact on Jess with the two of them sleeping together after one date. However this would come back to haunt Joe when Jess thought she was pregnant but it turned out that she was wrong. At the same time Joe started working at Goddards and started playing for the Scorpions with Tom.

Joe moved on from Jess and turned his attention to Beth who wasn't interested in him but went on one date with him to annoy his father. Joe was quickly turned down by Beth and was upset when Tom and Beth got together because he thought Tom was forgetting about Emily and managed to convince Molly of this. But when he realised that beth was going to take a job in holland and Tom did love her that he changed his own mind and told Molly that he had been wrong. Beth didn't take the job and he and Molly accepted Beth.

In 2003 he was happy when Tom and Beth got engaged and he and Jess got back together. He was happy when Beth fell pregnant but was gutted when the pregnancy turned out to be ectopic and Beth was left fighting for her life. However Beth recovered and Joe felt that he should move out to give Tom and Beth some space. However both of them convinced Joe that they wanted him there and he stayed put.

Tom asked Joe to be best man at the wedding but he got cold feet and declined. However after a talk with Beth he changed his mind and was the best man when they tied the knot.

Joe and Jess had broken up by 2004 and she had moved to London (presumably to be with Karen). Beth was also pregnant again. Joe had a quiet year until he took notice of a revamped Alice and entered a love triangle with her and Nathan. However he lost out. He also got fired by Ozias for just talking to Alice (leading to a strike) and gained a younger brother when Beth gave birth to Victor.

In 2005 Tom and Beth agreed to move to Wales but Joe declined to go with them and moved in with Ozias and Alice as a lodger. He and Alice goth together again (after Alice and Nathan had broken up) which originally upset Ozias but he learnt to live with it.

By 2006 Joe had left Skelthwaite but there was no indication about where he had gone to or if he and Alice were still together.
