"Extraordinary hero" Inspector John Marlott. Known as a man who "doesn't know the meaning of fear". Successful arrests of many paupers and pimps, vagrants and sharp practisers, pickpockets and beggars, unemployed and derelict, thieves and robbers, most recently, opium smugglers and bodysnatchers.
As a river/marine policeman (Bow Street Runners - No.4 Bow Street) John Marlott was grateful to be recruited by Sir Robert Peel (Home secretary 1822).
