Mentally disturbed and fresh out of prison (the only one caught three years ago in a robbery gone awry), Pope is the eldest and most volatile of the Cody boys, and Baz's best friend. While Smurf is happy to have Pope home, all the boys know what she's secretly feeling: how much easier things would be if Pope were still locked up, so he couldn't threaten the family's stability.
