Actually two of them, Ananenko and Bezpalov, are alive and relatively well. Up until the last year their heroic act was classified (as the most of information concerning the incident), and only after the KGB archives was declassified about a year ago it became known to a general public and they were decorated by the President of Ukraine.
Thanks to the three men who have sacrificed their lives so that others can live! You shan't be forgotten...
And much more terrifying, especially when you know that it's not an exaggeration, and we all were this close from a worst disaster in the human history.
That was even better than the first episode.
