Nora Larson hires Paladin to visit her husband Brian in prison and convince him to testify against the men who committed the murder he's being held for. But when Paladin gets there, he's knocked out and substituted for Brian so that the prisoner can make his escape with none the wiser.

Paladin rides out to meet with Nora Larson, and Paladin tells her that all the trial paperwork shows that her husband Brian is guilty. Brian says that three other men committed the murder but he refuses to identify them.
