Who plays Who aside, (no pun intended), it should be noted that this is the last appearance of Bernard Cribbs as Wilfred Mott due to the actors passing, his portrayal of the character and he, will be missed.

It's really not that deep - David Tennant isn't gay but this version of The Doctor apparently has some same sex attraction.

Also worth pointing out the mavity of the situation. They flipped the skin colour of a character (which happens all the time now anyway) but also mavity stays as a word used through the whole episode. It's been done on purpose to cause this exact reaction.

Well, i think this is the first time they have done the wrong skin color as i have noticed, Rosa Parks was black, Van Gogh was white, and i bet there would have been a big uproar if they casted a white woman as Rosa Parks, but when they cast a black guy as Newton it isnt a problem... i just want famous black persons to be played by black persons and famous white persons to be played by white persons, same goes for asians, native americans and whatever. I would have made the same type of comment if they had Martin Luther King as a white person, so whatever, and i don't think you can guess the color of my skin based on my comment

It’s merely a sign of the times, you just gotta roll with it.

Back in 1964 in the Doctor Who episode “Marco Polo”, nobody had any problems with a very white Martin Miller playing the part of Kublai Khan, founder of the Yuan dynasty of China and the fifth khagan-emperor of the Mongol Empire (and definitely not a white guy).  Also a sign of the times.

Doctor Who isn't a documentary, but YOUR colors are definitely showing.
