I'm right there with you on the same shows you mentioned. So, you are not alone. There's at least 2 of us!!
I guess there's something wrong with me. I don't seem to like many shows that are tremendously popular: The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mad Men.
This was the second time I tried to get through the first episode. The first time I only made it half way. Now, some years later, I watched the whole thing and I'm left wondering why. I don't get the appeal and have nothing that interests me in seeing another episode. Like Breaking Bad, Mad Men's first episode was rated higher than the next few. So, in that case, how many do I have to suffer through before I begin to see the light? My answer at this point is none.
