So after having seen the first episode... Mixed feelings. Yes it has the high writing and acting and general production standards I have come to expect of ANYTHING Taylor Sheridan.
I will keep watching.
I knew we were gonna lose someone. I just figured it was likely Matthew Fox who I like and not Russel. So losing both bummed me. Ithought I was gonna get a Sheridan series with Pfeiffer AND Russel! Oh well.
I love Pfeiffer. I really like the oldest daughter Abby. She is the grounded daughter. I like Russell as I have liked anything Pat J Adams plays (Yes I LOVED Suits!) and I like the rest. Paige is DEFINITELY a little spoiled. I wince. HARD. everytime I think of her mugging. That was brutal. I keep reminding myself that was acting but dayum. Right cross laid her out stunned half conscious for a sec while the scumbag grabbed her stuff and everyone just steered a wider path around her. At least one guy recorded (duh like everyone these days). All I could think was I would likely have been the one idiot to yell and bum rush the guy. What can I say? Not a New Yorker. Born and raised Arizona.
But I am hooked. Will be watching.
Oh and no... I didn't come in with any Yellowstone expectations. Any more than I did with Mayor of Kingstown, Tusla King or Landman. Not everything is gonna be Yellowstoneverse as Marshals is. Although I would love a Beth - Rip spinoff (HINT HINT Mr Sheridan!).

Saw an interview with Michelle Pfeiffer & Kurt Russell where they said originally it was going to be in the Yellowstone universe, but then Taylor Sheridan revamped the whole thing.
Why does it have to be related to Yellowstone? Everyone is loving the western world portrayed by Sheridan, so he is staying in his lane. Yellowstone is wrapped, al the rest will be spin offs (1883, Marshals,etc.) or he can write something new like this one or Landman, Sicario, Tusla King, Mayor of Kingstown etc.. As for Gen Z phone addicts... your avatar.... not you?
