I appreciated Sisko's hesitation at wanting to hang out in the 60's Vegas reproduction. I struggle with those kinds of recreations (Renaissance Faire, Dickens Fair, etc.). If you're going to be "accurate" then you have to acknowledge the subjugation of women & minorities, the classism, child labor and other problemmatic aspects. But if you make it inclusive and respresentative of our current population, then it seems to 'whitewash' the oppression and seems to minimize the importance of recognizing that there were negative aspects of that time. This can lead to a false nostalgia for a time that never really existed (or only existed at the expense of others).
