He is a recipient of over ten NAACP Image Awards and four Black Reel Awards and has been nominated for multiple Academy Awards, including best picture and best director. In 2026, Coogler's Sinners (2025) was nominated for 16 Oscar awards - making it the most nominated film of all time - with 10 of those nominations being held by black people, making it the most nominated black film at the Oscars of all time.
