Anouk Aimée

Born in Paris, France, Anouk Aimée adopted her stage name 'Anouk' after playing a character of that name in her 1947 debut film, La maison sous la mer (The House Under the Sea). The name 'Aimée' was given to her by Jacques Prévert, who penned the 1947 La fleur de l'âge (The Flower of Youth) specifically for her. The majority of her films were French, although she also made films in Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and America.

Anouk Aimée  died at her home in Paris at the age of 92.
