Bridgit Mendler is an American entrepreneur, former actress, and singer-songwriter who has seamlessly transitioned from a successful entertainment career to a prominent role in the tech industry. Mendler first gained recognition through her roles on Disney Channel, notably as Juliet van Heusen in Wizards of Waverly Place and as the lead character Teddy Duncan in Good Luck Charlie. She also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth, where she showcased her musical talents. Her debut studio album, Hello My Name Is..., featured the platinum-certified single "Ready or Not" and the gold-certified "Hurricane."
Beyond her entertainment career, Mendler pursued higher education with vigour. She studied anthropology at the University of Southern California before earning a master's degree in media arts and sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2020. Her academic journey continued at Harvard Law School, where she obtained her Juris Doctor in 2024. Concurrently, she has been working towards a Ph.D. at MIT's Media Lab, focusing on technologies that support inclusive and collaborative governance and citizen engagement. In 2024, Mendler co-founded Northwood Space, a start-up aiming to build a data highway between Earth and space by mass-producing ground stations and antennas to connect satellites. As CEO, she has led the company in securing significant seed funding to advance its mission.
