Emmy Rossum is an American actress, singer, director and producer, born Emmanuelle Grey Rossum on September 12, 1986, in New York City. She began performing professionally at the age of seven as a member of the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus. After appearing in films such as Mystic River and The Day After Tomorrow, she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera. Rossum is best known for playing Fiona Gallagher across nine seasons of Shameless. She later starred in and executive produced Angelyne, appeared in The Crowded Room, and leads the thriller series Furious as FBI agent Alice Black. Rossum has also directed episodes of Shameless, Animal Kingdom and Modern Love and released two studio albums.
