Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Shafin Karim's family immigrated to Canada in 1974 seeking a better life and escaping political dictatorship. He later completed his bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology at the University of Victoria, with plans to pursue a master's degree in counseling and education. However, Karim decided to take a break from his studies to re-visit his childhood love of performance. After a series of successful theatre productions, he re-focused his career towards film & television. Karim has appeared in Bionic Woman (2007), Smallville (2007 & 2010), Psych (2008), Tron: Legacy (2010), Being Erica (2011), The Listener (2014), Supernatural (2018), Red Snow (2019), Arrow (2019), and The Imperfects (2022).
