Joe Marler

Joseph William George Marler is one of the hardest-hitting props in world rugby. A staple for Harlequins and England over the years, he's rightly forged a reputation as one of the world's great players.

Marler started playing rugby union at age 11, when he featured for the Eastbourne Sharks. He quickly excelled at the sport and was almost immediately drafted into representative sides. During his formative years, he played for Sussex at the under 14-18 levels and he was even asked to represent London & the South East in 2006.

In 2008, Joe Marler joined the Harlequins academy. After a couple of brief loan spells at Esher and Worthing, Marler became a staple of the Harlequins first team. By 2011, he was featuring regularly and he played a crucial role in helping the side capture their first ever Premiership title in 2011-12.

Joe Marler has stayed at Harlequins ever since and even took over the club captaincy in 2014-15 when Chris Robshaw was focusing on his England commitments. In his time with the club, he's made more than 200 appearances.

Joe Marler has been so successful at club level that he's made more than 60 appearances for England on the international stage. He's been part of Six Nations Championship-winning sides and played in the 2019 World Cup final. In addition, Marler was even called into the British and Irish Lions squad for the 2017 tour of New Zealand. However, he did not play in a test on the tour.

He also hosts the podcast "The Joe Marler Show."
