Benjamin "Coach" Wade is an American television personality, musician and former soccer coach. He was born September 18, 1971, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Wade first competed on Survivor: Tocantins in 2009, where bold speeches, adventure stories, and his "Dragon Slayer" persona made him one of the franchise's most distinctive contestants. He returned for Heroes vs. Villains, finished as runner-up on South Pacific and, after 14 years away, joined Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans. Beyond television, he spent 22 years coaching college soccer before retiring in 2016. A trumpeter, composer and conductor, Wade founded the Susanville Symphony, served as its artistic director and taught music history at Lassen College. His orchestral work appeared in the documentary Small Town Big Symphony. Combining theatrical confidence, spirituality and competitive ambition, "Coach" became one of Survivor's most memorable figures.
