Thomas Bach was born on 29 December 1953 in Würzburg, Bavaria, West Germany. On September 10, 2013, he was elected as the 9th President of the International Olympic Committee to succeed Jacques Rogge at the 125th IOC Session held at the Buenos Aires Hilton in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was an Olympic Champion that won the Gold Medal for Fencing at the Montreal Olympics 1976. And on June 23, 2025, he succeeded by an Olympian, Swimmer, Olympic Champion Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe.
