Born in New Jersey, screenwriter, director and producer Christopher McQuarrie spent the first five years after school traveling and working at a detective agency, and later moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. He is best known for his frequent collaborations with actor Tom Cruise, which began with the 2008 historical drama Valkyrie, and later included films such as Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow, and The Mummy.
