Travis Fimmel is an Australian actor and former model, born on July 15, 1979, near Echuca, Victoria. Raised on a cattle farm in Lockington, he hoped to play Australian rules football, but a broken leg ended his professional ambitions. Discovered as a model, Fimmel moved abroad and gained international attention through an exclusive Calvin Klein campaign. He then studied acting in Los Angeles and made his television breakthrough in the title role of Tarzan. Global recognition followed with his charismatic portrayal of Viking leader Ragnar Lothbrok in Vikings. His films include Warcraft, Maggie's Plan, Lean on Pete, Danger Close, Dreamland, and Kandahar. Fimmel later returned to ambitious television as Marcus in Raised by Wolves, detective James Cormack in Black Snow, and Lyle Orlik in Boy Swallows Universe. He portrays the mysterious soldier Desmond Hart in the science-fiction prequel Dune: Prophecy.
