Sam Nivola, aka Samuel John Nivola was born in London, England on September 26, 2003 to British actress Emily Mortimer and American actor Alessandro Nivola. Sam has a younger sister, May (born 2010), who also acts. Nivola spent his early childhood in Notting Hill and subsequently grew up in the New York City neighborhood of Boerum Hill in Brooklyn. He attended Saint Ann's School and then Columbia University.
In 2021 he wrote and directed the short, Neighborhood Watch,in which Sam, his mother, father and sister all appeared. He was also featured in the films White Noise (2022) and Eileen (2023), and season 3 of The White Lotus (2025) as Lochlan Ratliff.
