Garry Kasparov

Garry Kimovich Kasparov was born Garik Kimovich Weinstein in Baku, Azerbaijan which was then part of the Soviet Union. He is a chess grandmaster, former world chess champion, writer, and political activist. Kasparov was the first world chess champion to lose to a computer when he lost to the IBM supercomputer Deep Blue in 1997.
