Born in Detroit, Michigan, JD Souther was raised in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1960s to pursue a career in music. His debut album, John David Souther, was released in 1972. An occasional actor he first appeared in a 1981 music video along with James Taylor. In 1989 he held the recurring role of John Dunaway in the tv series Thirtysomething.
