Tommy Lee Jones

Born in San Saba, Texas, Tommy Lee Jones attended St. Mark's School of Texas on a football scholarship, where he appeared in a student production of The Caine Mutiny. He went on to Harvard on scholarship, graduating cum laude in 1969 with a degree in English Literature. He had dreamed of returning to Texas to play football for the Dallas Cowboys, but was too slight for professional play, so instead he headed to New York and turned to acting, where within 12 days he began his theatrical career on Broadway in A Patriot for Me. His film debut was in the role of Hank (Oliver's roommate) in the 1970 movie Love Story. During this time, he also appeared as Dr. Mark Toland on One Life to Live from 1971 through to 1975.
