A young Kara and Alex are discussing Kara going off to college as they hike. As they come to a cliff edge, a blast knocks them off into the water below...
Alex wakes up from her dream and Kelly asks if she's okay. She describes her dream to Kelly, who says that the adoption falling through can cause physical and psychological changes. Alex says that the last time she felt that way was at a security sweep at the DEO, and figures that it has something to do with Kara. Brainiac-5 calls Alex and after he tells her what's going on, Alex says that she's on her way.
At the White House, Kara tells her Secret Service guards that they can't kidnap an American reporter. The agent in charge tells her that she's publishing secrets that threaten national security, and that they've scrubbed the CatCo servers with Kara's files. Kara breaks free and knocks out the guards, but Red Daughter is waiting for her with green Kryptonite and Kara passes out.
When Alex arrives, Brainiac-5 and Lena tell her about Ben injecting himself with the Harun-El and taking their entire stock, and then trashed Lena's lab. Lena figures that Ben is connected to Lex and explains what she and Kara found in Kaznia. She says that Lex plans on invading America and has Red Daughter, a Harun-El clone of Supergirl. Alex goes after Red Daughter while Brainiac-5 teams up with J'onn and Dreamer to find the aliens, and tell Dreamer that he's in love with her. Lena plans to rattle Ben and goes to borrow something from the DEO. Before she goes, Lena tells Alex that Kara went to tell Baker what they know.
Red Daughter tells a tied-up Kara that she's supposed to kill her. Kara insists that Lex is the villain and will kill Red Daughter once she's served her purpose, but Red Daughter doesn't believe her. She asks what they said to Kara to make her believe, and figures that Alex is responsible. Kara says that she's built up a resistance to Kryptonite over 15 years, breaks free, knocks Red Daughter back, and leaps out the window and manages to fly away.
The next morning, Kara goes to J'onn's office. As he tends to her wounds, Kara tells him what happened. Kara figures that Alex is in danger since Lex knows who she is. J'onn warns her that the two sets of conflicting memories could drive Alex insane, but suggests that if Alex remembers on her own than she might survive the mental conflict. Brainiac-5 arrives and asks J'onn for his help, and tells them what Lena told them. Kara figures that Alex will get herself killed and flies off before J'onn can stop her.
Lena meets with Lillian and explains that she "bought" her prison for the weekend. She has a baby Truth Seeker to force Lillian to tell the truth, and asks if she can extract the Harun-El. Lillian figures that it's for James and wonders why she would help, and Lena explains that she slipped her stepmother a slow-working neurotoxin and has the antidote, and Lillian has 24 hours to find the cure. Meanwhile, she's going to confront Ben and find Lex. Lilian admits that she loves Lena under the influence of the Truth Seeker.
Supergirl slips into the DEO and tells Alex what she knows about her plans, and that Baker and Ben are working with Lex. She says that Alex will need her if she's going to fight Red Daughter.
Ben is going to his car and is unable to reach Baker by phone. Lena confronts him and tells Ben that she knows he's working with Lex. She warns him that everything he's achieved is because of Lex, but Ben doesn't believe her. Ben insists that it's his vision and his idea, and wavers briefly. Lena warns him that he's given humanity's future to a psychopath and leaves. She gets into a car with James and tells him that Ben has no idea, and is worried that Ben's condition is deteriorating because of the Harun-El. James wonders if it will happen to him, and Lena assures him that Ben used the untested serum while they gave James a stable version. Regardless, she's working on a way to extract it from James. Ben drives away in a hurry and they follow him, figuring that he's going to check Lena's story.
Brainiac-5 and J'onn go to where the latest Alien Affairs raid took place. J'onn finds a keychain and asks Braiaic-5 if he knows about it, but Brainiac-5 is more concerned about where Dreamer is and wants to tell her the truth regardless of the causality issues. Dreamer arrives as they talk about "love", and Brainiac-5 quickly changes the topic. The heroine gets a vision of an alien girl in white riding a white unicorn and being chased by a wolf. Brainiac-5 deduces that the Irish name for "wolf" is also the name of a subsidiary for Amertek.
The trio go to the company and find it under high security. Dreamer figures that they can have J'onn disguise himself as a guard and take them in as prisoners. Brainiac-5 warns that it is likely to lead to their actual capture, and J'onn goes to check the perimeter for a way in. Once he leaves, Brainiac-5 starts to tell Dreamer that he loves her. Before he can do so, Dreamer spots the AA guards bringing in aliens, including the girl from her dream. Brainiac-5 suggests that they go in, using his image inducer to pose as Ben with Dreamer as his prisoner. He intimidates the guards into letting him in, but a guard dog reacts to Brainiac-5 and the guard negates his image inducer. J'onn watches from above and sees what's happened.
Alex uses DEO satellites to scan for Red Daughter's solar signature. Haley arrives and Alex tells her about the situation. The colonel says that they should work together.
The guards separate Brainiac-5 and Dreamer, They strap Brainiac-5 into a chair and torture him with electricity.
J'onn infiltrates the company and sees the guards sending the alien prisoners through a teleportation portal.
Once the guards are done torturing Brainiac-5, they proceed to move onto Dreamer. Brainiac-5 screams that they can't, and talks about "boxes". He says that he has ancestral memory and his ancestors were conquerors, and the torture realigned him with those more emotionless ancestors... and that was a mistake. Brainiac-5 breaks free and kills the guards. When J'onn arrives, Braianiac-5 tells him that he's free.
Alex and Supergirl track Red Daughter's locations, and Haley says that she went to DC to ask around and discovered that the engineers responsible for the Project Claymore space laser were all recently killed. She figures that Lex is after the technology. Supergirl has her triangulate the locations, which lead to a spot in a downtown National City apartment, and Alex insists in going with Supergirl. The heroine warns that it's too dangerous and asks Alex to trust her.
Supergirl breaks into the apartment and discovers that it's a near duplicate of her own. She finds disguises and relics of her life, and realizes that Red Daughter has been stalking her.
Brainiac-5 tells J'onn that AA is draining alien power and using it as kinetic energy to power a version of the Claymore particle weapon. J'onn explains about the portal and Brainiac-5 figures that they're moving the aliens to a second location. He says that they have to disable it and Dreamer could be useful, and when J'onn asks how he's doing, says that he feels no pain.
Ben enters an old safehouse building and takes cover as gunshots ring out. He realizes that his ears are bleeding and injects himself with more Herun-El, and then continues on. Otis is playing a first-shooter video game, and greets Ben by name. He explains that he's laying low waiting on the next step of the plan, and his sister loved the place. Otis readily confirms that they were working for Lex when they approached Ben, Ben says that he go everything, but Otis points out that Ben got power and Lex got money. When Ben asks what Lex is planning, Otis says that e's planning a fun time in Kaznia.
Lena realizes that Lex plans to stop the Kaznian invasion and make himself a hero.
Otis tells Ben Lex's plan, and then says that he has to kill him. He opens his chest plate, revealing the Kryptonite inside, and Ben attacks him while saying his name is Liberty. James arrives and attacks Ben, who says that they need to find Lex. James collapses in sudden pain and Lena follows him in. As Otis moves in for the kill, Ben yanks the Kryptonite out of his chest, shutting him down. He then runs out as Lena tells James that she's going to fix it.
Brainiac-5 finds Dreamer and says that he's more focused. He takes her hand and says that he's not going to free her, Brainiac-5 tells her to go through the portal, and then astral project and tell them her location. He leaves and J'onn finds him, and he tells J'onn that he found Dreamer but didn't release her. Brainiac-5 figures their odds double if J'onn and Dreamer are both captured, and paralyzes J'onn with a precise set of blows.
Supergirl finds Red Daughter's journal with a photo of Mikhail in it. Alex arrives and insists that Supergirl isn't going to leave her behind. She wonders why the apartment looks like Kara's, and looks out the window to see Kara's apartment nearby. Supergirl says that she had a sister, and Alex talks about how she can't protect her own sister. Her cell phone rings as Eliza calls, letting Alex know that Kara just got there. Supergirl realizes that it's Red Daughter and tells Alex that Eliza is in danger, and superspeeds to Midvale. Alex discovers that Eliza is no longer on the line.
At the Danvers house, Red Daughter steps out holding Eliza as Supergirl arrives. Red Daughter says that she's been there for hours and she had none of it, and doesn't want them. Supergirl figures that Red Daughter has doubts about Lex. Red Daughter says that she serves the collective, and Supergirl asks her about Mikhail. When Red Daughter says that Americans killed Mikhail, she releases Eliza and dons her battle uniform. They fight and Red Daughter knocks Supergirl out of the house.
Alex drives her motorcycle to Midvale and tries to reach Eliza by phone.
Supergirl and Red Daughter fly into the nearby forest, still fighting, and Supergirl tries to persuade her clone that Lex will betray her and Kaznia. She blasts Red Daughter back and points out that they're evenly matched, but Red Daughter explains that she's evolved and manifests electrical powers. She blasts Supergirl down
Alex arrives and runs toward the battle. She starts to remember her childhood with Kara, and how Kara revealed her powers to save her when they fell off the cliff. Her memories of all their times together as Kara and Supergirl return, and attacks Red Daughter. Red Daughter brushes her off, but then recognizes her and flies off, having knocked Supergirl unconscious.
Alex goes to Supergirl and says that she can't go now that she remembers everything. She begs Supergirl no to die now that they're together, and Eliza arrives. Alex says that Supergirl needs sunlight to heal, Supergirl unconsciously pulls in the absorbed sunlight from the plants, reviving herself, Crying, Alex tells Supergirl that she's there and has missed her.
Lena takes James to Lillian, who has finished the extraction process. James tells her that they don't know what's coming and he needs his strength, Lillian says that another dose of the Harun-el would stabilize him, and Lena tells her to do it. Her mother injects James with the serum, and Lena gives her the antidote even though Lillian doesn't think that she poisoned her.
J'onn and Dreamer are led through the portal with the other alien prisoners. Brainiac-5 watches from above and then walks away.
As Haley finds designs for a Lexosuit, the alarms go off. She calls Alex and says that Lex has designed a compact version of the particle weapon: enough to power a Lexosuit. On the news, Baker announces that Kaznia has invaded the U.S. Lex, wearing the Lexosuit, thwarted the invaders and killed "Supergirl". The President thanks Lex on behalf of the nation.
