James Hunter is an ex-con framed into prison and now determined to settle the vendetta against his former employer, who victimized him. Freed from the state penitentiary after serving a long sentence for fraud and embezzlement, Hunter is out to get David Ingersoll, his mysterious one-time employer. Hunter follows clues leading him to a hotel where a reunion is underway of an Armored Battalion unit to which Ingersoll belonged in the service. Hunter takes the law into his own hands, following an attempt on his life. Hunter feels the attempted assassination was connected with Ingersoll, and pursues his search, while Kluba tries to stop his vigilante approach. Their separate investigations lead both men to General Meeker, who reigns over the battalion reunion, and a girl called Marty, both of whom have had contact with Ingersoll.
