Trucking partners Sonny Pruitt (Claude Akins) and Will Chandler (Frank Converse) set out to give an ill-tempered young trucker the time of his life when they discover that he doesn't know he's dying of cancer. Pint-sized Joe Shannon (played by Michael Pollard) demands that they help him deliver his load of potatoes when they wreck his truck. Liking for him develops into a rigged bet to make Shannon a part-owner of the twosome's truck. This, a lovely blind date and a bowling alley brawl, dissolve Shannon's truculence — till he discovers the reason for their friendship.
