DR. KILDARE AND DR. GILLESPIE (RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN AND RAYMOND MASSEY) HAVE PROBLEM WITH BEAUTIFUL PATIENT WHO DREADS HAVING FIRST BABY

Dr. Kildare (Richard Chamberlain) and Dr. Gillespie (Raymond Massey) struggle with a beautiful young woman who dreads having her first baby, in the episode that opens the second year of the "Dr. Kildare" series on NBC-TV Thursday, Sept. 27 (8:30-9:30 p.m. NYT).

Dr. Gillespie also must contend with the ailing founder of Blair General Hospital in the episode titled, "Gravida One."

Guest stars Patricia Barry and Otto Kruger portray the expectant woman and sick philanthropist. Elliot Silverstein directs for producer David Victor from a teleplay by E. Jack Neuman.

Miss Barry's credits extend from the Broadway stage to Hollywood movies, but most of her recognition has come from television. She twice has been nominated for an Emmy for NBC-TV roles -- once for her portrayal in "Dark Victory" on "NBC Matinee Theater," later for her role opposite Alec Guinness in "The Wicked Scheme of Jebal Deeks. "

Kruger, a half-century veteran of the theatrical world, has amassed a credit total of 107 motion pictures, 33 stage plays and "35 to 40" television appearances. He won special prominence for his Broadway triumph in the title role of "Counselor at Law. "

Ruth McDevitt also stars in the opening episode as Nurse Fromm. Miss McDevitt ' s credits include the Broadway productions of "Harvey" and "The Solid Gold Cadillac."

Silverstein is virtually a regular among directors of the "Dr. Kildare" series, having worked on eight of the 33 episodes in the series initial season last year.

Neuman is the author who wrote the pilot episode that launched the series a year ago. He has since been named executive producer of the new NBC -TV "Sam Benedict" series.
