Television news reporter Peter Campbell finds himself having to deliver a $500,000 ransom after the distraught parents of a kidnapped boy select him for the assignment in “The Middle Man” on the ABC Television Network's "Mobile One,” Monday, Nov. 10, 1975 (7:00-8:00 p.m.).
Not knowing which way to turn, Robert and Joan Tate call upon Campbell for help after their son disappears and the kidnappers threaten his life if the police are called in. Campbell finds himself in a precarious position with his employer since he is sworn to secrecy, while rival stations get wind of the situation and soon televise many of the details.
Jackie Cooper stars as reporter Peter Campbell. Also starring are Julie Gregg as Maggie Spencer and Mark Wheeler as Doug McKnight. Guest starring are Farley Granger as Robert Tate, Hazel Court as Joan Tate, Kate Woodville as Barbara Dale, and Erica Hagen as Heather Ames. Richard Carlson makes a special guest appearance as Bill Quinton. Arnold Laven directed the teleplay by Dan Ullman.
