Kate, the wife of the famous detective Columbo, is the main character in this series that combines mystery and humor. In the adventures of Inspector Columbo, his wife never appeared on screen. This time, in a quid pro quo, the opposite happens; Mr. Columbo no longer appears on screen. Kate's newspaper asks her to do a report on major caterers.
She gets a job at a large restaurant in Beverly Hills, the upscale neighborhood of Hollywood. Two women run this restaurant business, and Kate quickly becomes friends with them. Some time later, one of them dies in a strange car accident. Mrs. Columbo suspects foul play.
