The events unfold in the summer of 1946. In the post-war Moscow is undergoing a series of daring robberies, the true purpose of which is to serve as a cover for the disruption of the Soviet atomic project by enemy agents. Investigator Rudakov is looking for the mysterious "Yuvel", the head of the spy network. Every step of the investigation pushes Rudakov to a disappointing conclusion: even in his inner circle there may be someone who was recruited by the enemy.
