Held my interest past the pilot episode. Interesting to learn more about the Bene Gesserit. The show suffers from the usual HBO need to stick in boobies & gratutious sex scenes - like they don't think people would watch a show about strong women unless they make it titilating -sigh. I never made it past the first trilogy, and that was many years ago, so can't judge how close the plot/characters adheres to the novels.
It's good but it feels more like a primer for the upcoming MMO game than a prequel for the Villeneuve movies
People going in expecting the movie sensibility/setting will be disappointed, but there is merit in all this
Alledgedly, half way through filming, the people in charge panicked, because this way going to be another woke epic, and public opinion was changing. Told the director to tone it down, but ended up reshooting almost everyting again. That's why it ended up like it is and why the storyline seems so confused.
