To celebrate the Richardsons' move to Hebden Bridge, Lucy stages a huge birthday party for daughter Elsie. Jon is against the party but is finally convinced to take part by a family friend: the all-round entertainer and comedy legend Bernie Clifton.

And Jon's not happy when he finds out. But it's Lucy who is really annoyed when she finds evidence that Jon is having a celebrity affair with an 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown co-star.

Lucy remembers the time she was in an episode of "Doctors" acting alongside "Fleabag" star Phoebe Waller Bridge. Jon's never seen the footage. Until now. Lucy's sitcom with "Car Share" co-creator Tim Reid is ready for a BBC run-through, with Johnny Vegas as one of its stars. But Jon hates the script. Johnny Vegas reckons that Jon's catchphrase "Save it for bingo" will be bigger than his catchphrase "monkey". Jon's not that bothered, because his Pixar film role is almost in the bag.

In the Christmas special, Jon wants to give daughter Elsie the perfect vegan Christmas. But what he doesn't know is that Lucy has invited her mother Gill and Johnny Vegas over for the festivities. Vegas can't believe his luck when he gets to stay in Jon's pub for the duration. And is he falling in love with Lucy's mum? UKTV has already commissioned a second season. Season two centres on the further frustrations of married life, the clash of career and personal life and how Jon and Lucy have been coping since viewers last saw them, including dealing with life after lockdown, which Jon predicted of course, creating the perfect family Christmas and Lucy's mum Gill spotting some spooky going's on in The Dog and Bastard.

And are they about to get a new stepfather in law in the shape of Johnny Vegas for Christmas?

Meanwhile, old neighbours, Emma and Damion pay a visit and offer their opinion of Jon and Lucy's new next-door neighbours. Jon needs an escape route and makes a big decision about an old unloved local pub.

Luckily Seann Walsh is on hand to make sure the show stays funny.

And Lucy gets the chance to be the new voice of Aldi, but Jon's not happy about her using the show as a commercial venture.
