Vickie, the son of the chieftain Halvar, is small and timid. When the Vikings are making preparations for their next sea expedition Halvar allows his son to sail with them, but only an one condition: Vickie must beat him at carrying stones. Nobody believes that Vicky will win the competition. However, with much cunning he does.

Although Vicky has his father's permission to participate in the expedition, he must smuggle himself aboard as a stowaway in a barrel. Since he abhors violence of any kind, nobody has any confidence in him. When the Vikings invade a town and get captured it is Vicky who helps them out of their difficult Situation.

The Vikings are being held in prison and do not know how they will pet out of this scrape. Using a trick, Vicky finally gets a swordfish from off the ship. With this fish they saw a hole in the door of the prison and escape. However, that is not the end of the Vikings' problems. But Vicky is there to solve them, too.

Snorre, a member of the Viking crew, has a terrible tooth ache which makes him unusually violent. However, just before the shins of the wild Sven appear on the horizon Vicky succeeds in relieving poor Snorre's pain.

Sven is a dangerous adventurer. He attacks Viking ships laden with rich treasures. This time he pursues Halvar's ship and it looks as if he will make a good catch. But just in time Vicky succeeds in putting Sven's ships out of action by setting fire to their sails.

Laden with booty the Viking ships sail towards home. Halvar is in a bad mood: he must pay heavy custom duties to the Danes and what's more Sven is on his tail. Vicky cooks up a plan to hoodwink the Danish customs and direct their attention.

Back in Flake the Vikings distribute their booty. Vicky is to get his share, too, but he offers it as a prize for the winner in the competition of catching wolves. The competition commences in the morning and by evening there is not one single wolf in the woods surrounding Flake. Did Vicky follow any definite intentions by suggesting this?

When Sven one day takes Flake by surprise and the whole village turns chaotic, an idea occurs to Vicky of how to overcome Sven: he lets the wolves loose.

The village children build themselves a raft on which they sail to the Island of the seals. Vicky is not very happy about this idea, but nevertheless he accompanies them. During this excursion there are all kinds of misunderstandings and much excitement. But in the end Vicky makes friends with the seals.

Vicky promises Ylvi to bring her to the big celebrations taking place in the neighboring village. But then Vickiy has to participate in an expedition: the Vikings intend attacking a Dutch ship.

One day Vicky and Ylvi find Snorre exhausted on the beach near the village. He tells them that the Vikings have been taken prisoner in England and that he was the only one who managed to escape. Now he wants to fetch help for the crew in distress. Vicky has the inhabitants of the village construct wooden weapons. Together with Snorre he sets sail for England.

After Snorre and Vicky have landed in England to liberate the Vikings, they meet the chieftain of the red-eyed clients. During this conference Snorre manages to exchange the weapons of the fearsome warrior with the wooden weapons they have brought along. Then Snorre and Vicky liberate their fellow countrymen hut get mixed up in a fight.

On the Way back home from England the Vikings are surrounded by Sverker and his followers. The big and strong Sverker who possesses a marvelous sword male by dwarves was reputed to be unconquerable. In spite of his fear Vicky tries to outwit Sverker. Finally Sverkers sword breaks into pieces and he hits his head against a rock. From this moment on he gladly co-operates with the Vikings.

The Vikings have set it in their heads to attack a castle in Franconia and are not deterred by Vicky's admonitions. But during the attack they are taken prisoner. Faxe, Ulme and Urobe manage to escape and return to the ship to ask Vicky's help. A celebration in the castle sparks off Vicky's idea of offering his services as kitchen boy in order to gain access to the castle.

Vicky enters the Service of the Franconia as kitchen boy. The preparations for the great celebration are in full swing. When Vicky hears that a proud of inkers has arrived, he sees his chance: he locks the group in a store room and takes their clothes. The Vikings escape disguised as court jesters.

The tax collector arrives at Flake with a heavily armed entourage. His power is so great that the Vikings can do nothing with their small weapons. Then Vicky has an idea of using the water pipes which were laid in the village against the invaders. The results of this surprise teach the tax collector a lesson and so a beaten man he leaves the village with his troops.

A huge fire has broken out in Flake, the whole village is in danger. The Vikings don't know what to do. Vicky remembers a trick from earlier, he assembles the water pipes and extinguishes the fire. From now on Flake even has its own fire brigade.

Vicky and Ylvi have taken to a new past-time: training pigeons. Halvar does not think much of this hobby, it's not masculine enough for him. But for Vicky these new experiences soon take an a great significance. When Gilby and Ylvi go out to sea in a boat, they get into difficulties. Thanks to the pigeons Vicky is able to come to their help with the seals.
Season 2

Halvar's men have sent a pigeon to Flake. In this way Vicky finds nut that the Vikings have pot stuck in trouble. The Magyars have got a grip and them and every endeavour to get ahead is foiled. Vicky hurries to give them a hand. When he arrives at the ships Vicky constructs several giant kites out of animal pelts and in this way the Vikings manage to escape in their ships.

The Vikings land in the country of the Bulgarians and are being captured by a king who is constantly plagued by hunger. Through a trick Vicky and the Vikings are able to escape from the castle. All except Halvar, that is, who is detained by the Bulgarian king as a hostage. Vicky and his friends return disguised as Ethiopian master cooks and thus the king falls a victim to his own addiction.

On the homeward journey to Flake the Vikinqs get a taste of the Magyars' revenge: a strong head wind brings the Viking ship to a complete stand still. Vicky and Snorre sneak into enemy territory. Cunning Vicky succeeds in pouring sneezing and itching powder into the bellows of the wind machines.

Sven and his men are awaiting the Vikings on their return to Flake from their adventures; they have already seized the village. The Vikings counsel amongst themselves how to best trick Sven and take Vicky's advice in throwing all their gold into the water. When Sven and his men jump into the water to retrieve the treasure they are caught in nets by the Vikings.

The Vikings' boat has sunk! Tjure organizes the construction of a new ship. The new ship has hardly been launched when water again penetrates the planks and it sinks. Finally the Vikings discover that the sword fish has avenged himself for Tjure taking away the sword from one of the fish. The Vikings are persuaded by Vicky that it is better to make peace with the sword fish.

The Vikings are trying to marry Faxe off - Halvar has already chosen the bride. Unfortunately, Faxe is very shy, a misunderstanding arises and everything threatens to go wrong.

much excitement amongst the Vikings. Vicky, Gilby and a few other village children build a raft and row to the shin. On the shin Vicky finds a map of Greenland. So the Vikings decide to set out on a journey to Greenland with dreams of a treasure which is to he found there.

After a long journey the Vikings arrive in Greenland and start searching for the supposed treasure. The Eskimo chief shows them the way to the ice palace in which the treasures are supposed to be hidden. The Vikings find the cave in which the ice palace lies and discover mountains of gold. But soon they realize that they cannot get at the treasure because it lies under a thick layer of ice.

The vikings cannot even bring home the tiniest present for their womenfolk and besides, they fear for their honor. Vickie is the only one to look forward to returning to Flake. When they spot a small island on their way home they hope to at least find something to catch there. But all they find is a stranded baby whale which they return to its mother.

The Vikings land in the country of the Bulgarians and are captured by a king, who is constantly plagued by hunger. By a trick, Vicky and the Vikings can escape from the castle. Only Halvar is held hostage by the king. Dressed as Ethiopian master chefs traveling around the world to introduce the Ethiopian cuisine, Vicky and his friends return, and the king becomes a victim of his own addiction.

The Vikings are off again. On the way they meet up with a Greek ship from which they hope to loot a load of treasure. But the captain persuades them very charmingly to accompany him back to Greece where they will receive the King's treasures. The Vikings fall for this trick and the King draws them into a labyrinth where they indeed find marvelous treasures, but are unable to get out with them.

The Vikings are still trapped with their treasures in the castle moat of the Greek king and do not know how they can escape. The cunning king proposes a contest to Halvar; if the Vikings win, then he promises to let them go. The Vikings do actually win the contest; however, the Greek king thinks up another trick to keep Halvar and his companions trapped.

When the Vikings do finally arrive in Flake they are dismayed to find the village deserted. The children have hidden in the wood and the women have disappeared. Finally, Halvar learns that the Danes have invaded the village that night and taken the women as hostages back to Denmark.

The Vikings are in Denmark. They intend freeing their women who have been captured by the Danes, but instead they walk into a trap and are themselves captured by the Danish king. The women from Flake have meanwhile become so indispensable that he does not want to let them go, even for a high ransom.

Ylva is very impressed by Mr. Lumperich who pays them a visit one day. She finds him quite charming. Besides, he has brought along some treasures which he gives to the villagers. But too late the Vikings discover that Mr. Lumperich only wants to fool them with his presents. So it happens that thanks to Vickie again the matter with Mr. Lumperich has a happy ending for the Vikings.

Every year there is a bitter fight between both the villages of Flake and Schlack to decide which village will be allowed to celebrate the annual Viking festival. Yet, Wickie, the son of the Viking Chieftain of Flake and Finn and the son of the Viking Chieftain of Schlack, cannot understand why the festival cannot be celebrated together by both villages.

The Vikings set off on a long journey; they intend visiting Russia. But on the way they are caught in a great storm during which Vickie is hit by a gust of wind and blown away with the broken off mast and a sail over the sea onto a small deserted island. His friends, the seals, trace his whereabouts so that now at least he is not that lonesome.

Vickie is still stranded on the island onto he has been driven by the storm. He is wondering what has happened to the Vikings and their ship. Finally, together with the seals he goes out in search of them, but there is no trace to be found of Halvar and his men. The mood of the Vikings has reached rock bottom - their ship lies wrecked on the shore and Halvar is ill with sorrow.
Season 3

The Vikings have landed on a new continent; they are delighted at this new discovery. But when the Vikings set out to scout the new land they discover that they are not alone here; they are captured by Indians and the otherwise so courageous Vikings learn what it is to be afraid.

The Vikings are guests of the Winca Indians and are enjoying the hospitality of the chieftain and the village inhabitants. The Vikings are amazed at all they see; the peaceful Wincas are talented craftsmen and have made their village practical and comfortable. The Vikings can surprise the Wincas with a great technical novelty.

The Vikings have been living with the peace-loving Winka Indians for two months when one day Snoppe, a particularly wild and cruel Viking, is sighted off shore in his ship. Halvar wants at all costs to prevent Snoppe from plundering the peaceful Winkas and is himself captured by Snoppe.

The golden haired Snoppe is furious at Halvar because he has escaped. Snoppe is determined to fight the Vikings and the Winka Indians.The Vikings ponder on how they can get rid of Snoppe with-out a fight - under no circumstances do they want the peaceful Winkas to be plundered. But Fortune smiles upon the Vikings and Snoppe is forced to abandon his position.

Celebrations are being held in the Winka village. The golden haired Snoppe has lost his curls and is forced to retreat at the ridicule of his soldiers. Soon Snoppe's soldiers head out to sea with the shame-faced Snoppe and now the time has also come for Halvar and his men to return home. They have overspent their stay with the peaceful Winkas.

In Flake a circus has pitched its tents and there is much excitement. The village inhabitants participate in the program providing hilarious entertainment, and many a surprise. But the fun is interrupted by the arrival of the tax man and his officials and it is only thanks to the circus artists that he makes a quick retreat with the promise never to collect taxes again in Flake.

Halvar from Flake and Baltac from Schlack have a violent quarrel as to who will be chosen as the chieftain of all chieftains. In the end they declare war on each other. With great haste both villages prepare for war. Baltac has much to defend since he has borne the title for 20 years. But Halvar, too, moves heaven and earth so that he at last can become chieftain of all.

Halvar and Baltac are making big plans: this time they intend combining forces and setting on a joint marauding expedition. But for the moment it is the womenfolk from Flake who are thwarting their plans.They are of the opinion that their men should help them more with their work. With Vickie's support Ylva is going to give the Vikings something to think about.

One day Vickie and Ylva find a strange man on the beach who has been washed ashore. He is a messenger of the Bulgarian king with an urgent plea for the Vikings to help the king against the dangerous Grey Men. So the Vikings set out and actually succeed in penetrating the camp of the Grey Men and reaching the Bulgarian king.

The Vikings are keeping watch on the fortress of the Bulgarian king. They are expecting another attack from the dangerous Grey Men. And sure enough: they discover in the nick of time that the Grey Men have dug a tunnel in order to penetrate the fortress unseen. Now of all things when everyone is counting on him for a brain-wave Vickie comes down with a terrible tooth-ache.

Bullermann is furious because the Grey Men have been routed for the second time by the Vikings. He has sworn to revenge himself on the men from Flake. The Vikings prepare themselves for another attack of the Grey Men and this time Bullermann hopes that the fortress and the whole land will fall into his hands.

Bullermann has now been defeated for the third time, but he will not give up fighting the Vikings. He is determined to storm the fortress and becomes more enraged after each attack. So the war continues. Bullermann lays all his hopes in a new plan for attack and believes that he will be able to take the fortress by evening.

The war against the Grey Men is still going on. After his last defeat Bullermann has thought out an ingenious plan - he is going to trick the Vikings with a huge wooden horse as large as a house. Bullermann is sure of success. But the whole thing turns out rather different than expected.

After an adventurous journey to the North Pole the Vikings get stuck in a sea of ice. Their supplies have run out, they have already burnt the planks of the decks as fuel to warm themselves. In short their situation is desperate. But in the nick of time they are saved in this deserted territory when they meet an eskimo family.

The Vikings enticed by a fat booty, walk into a trap and are taken prisoners by the Dutchking who has definite plans for them: in the future they are to drain his flooded land of seawater.

Halvar and his men have set out to seek a lonely island in the far South on which such costly treasures like diamonds are supposed to be found. The journey promises to be one of great adventure for the Vikings. On their journey home Ulme composes a splendid poem about mountains gushing forth fire, dragons and of course about the valiant Viking heroes. (Final episode of the series)
