Barney Miller is the kind of cop we'd all like to run into. He is always sensible. He maintains order over a squad room of detectives who gamble for a hobby, get hit on by anything in skirts, go to renaissance philosophy conventions for fun, and would really prefer to be writing.

Solidly performed & an excellent guest cast makes this a fun one. Also a little peek at the social dynamics of the sqadroom.
The old classic - men in dresses, strikes again.
These old shows have to taken on their face, in my opinion, or used as teaching tools for being inappropriate. By today's standards this entire episode is toxic, but for its time it was ratings GOLD!
Great episode! Nice backstory with the 'floating job offer' & the main story is serious, yet somehow kept light.
