Back to where it all began... Join Tom Welling (Clark) and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) as they revisit the Smallville Pilot episode more than two decades since it was filmed. The guys talk about their experience during the shooting with kingmaker David Nutter, working with established actors like John Schneider, Annette O'Toole, and John Glover, and sentiment filming and releasing around 9/11. After discussing the difficulty of certain scenes like the underwater car crash, and the epic nature of the meteor shower, Tom and Michael later reflect on certain scenes that are a bit jarring and probably wouldn't fly nowadays.

Tom and Michael address the step back in the second episode of the series Smallville where the ‘freak of the week' concept gets solidified with our introduction to a buggy individual. The guys reflect on the suspension of disbelief that it took to shoot certain scenes and what it was like shooting the special effect shots that involved kryptonite and bullet time. During this episode, Michael points out scenes that didn't flow after remembering cut dialogue and Tom looks for answers on the floating that never got addressed.

Things are heating up… This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Episode 3 of Smallville: Hothead. They talk about their experience working alongside The Wonder Years alumni Dan Lauria, the difficulty of the fire stunts performed in the episode, and some behind the scenes stories of working on the first episode directed by Greg Beeman. While Michael talks about how this episode highlights why people were drawn to Lex trying to fight his destiny of being the ‘bad guy,' Tom talks about this being the beginning of Clark being in the right place at the right time. Oh yeah, and we talk about some updates to our death/ save count and other notes that Al and Miles shared on the first couple episodes.

Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Episode 4 of Smallville: X-Ray and discuss the issue in acting through Clark's super power scenes, working with guest star and ‘freak of the week' actor Lizzy Caplan, and issues onset with a particular prop that went wrong. Tom shares what helped him convey his X-Ray power while acting and which scene he remembers Michael and he breaking in. Michael shares insights into the Lex blackmail subplot and tries to get past a scene with a particularly odd reaction from Sam Jones.

After we pull the curtain back and deep dive all the ‘Freezer Boy' scenes, teenage horror tropes, and purple sweaters inside Episode 5: Cool, we're joined by future returning guest, Lana Lang herself, Kristin Kreuk. Kristin remembers her time on the show, how Tom couldn't remember his lines in one particular scene in Cool, and dealing with her stalker in the early seasons. Good times in this episode as we explore some of the Cool special effects and crack a new low on our rating system.

This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Hourglass, an episode full of crazy foreshadowing, scary good guest appearances, and deadly dangerous stunts. Tom fondly remembers acting against the blind Cassandra and learning how to act for the camera in fight sequences. Finally… we've arrived at the Amy Adams one! This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Episode #7: Craving. The guys give huge props to Amy's commitment in her performance, talk about what it was like working with her on set, and also discuss the delicate nature of shooting an episode that highlights eating disorders through the high school experience. We get into the mysterious nursery explosion scene, Clark awkwardly piecing everything together, and the origins of Lex's evil ulterior motives.

Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar join Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as they revisit Jitters, one of the most epic episodes from Season 1 (featuring Candymam himself Tony Todd) sharing the absolute chaos that went on behind the scenes to put this episode together. Al and Miles talk about landing Tony Todd, why going over budget almost cost them their jobs, and the crazy reasons that more than four different directors were involved in its making. While the scores at the end might not reflect it, the guys fondly remember shooting scenes with Kelly Brook as Victoria Hardwick and talk about their favorite and least favorite locations to shoot at, as the iconic ‘barn sunset' makes several appearances. Michael talks about working again with former co star Azura Skye and similarities in this week's storyline to his real life. Tom talks about how you could see them still ‘figuring it out' with the invisibility special effects this early on in the series and how we start to see the rise of convenient concussions in the show.

This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit an episode of Smallville that nobody quite understands the meaning of its title… Hug. The guys breakdown stellar performances from guest stars Rick Peters and Gregory Sporleder, talk about shooting in harsh Vancouver winters, and discuss embracing the awkwardness of kissing scenes with friends on set. Tom highlights the metaphor and correlation between the friendship fallout of Kyle and Bob and the parallels we'll see later on with Clark and Lex. Michael talks about what it was like to shoot Lex's first time going ‘super villain mode' and trying to take out Clark.

We kick things into motion this week with Episode #13: Kinetic. Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit the ‘kryptonite tattoo' episode and remember the uncredited cameo from Evangeline Lilly, talk about how nobody cared about the angsty Whitney subplot, and dish out an all time low for the podcast thus far. What would you do with zero consequences… This week we explore that concept in Episode 14 of Smallville: ZERO. The guys revisit a Lex heavy, flashback frenzied episode that almost featured the very own Neil Patrick Harris. Michael remembers the Lex hanging upside down scenes causing a bit of a health scare and the one scene that caused a stuntman to quit on the spot. After remembering certain issues with directors on set, the guys dissect the different ‘out of character' performances from John Schneider, Kristin Kreuk, and Sam Jones III whose characters fall under the spell of the Nicodemus. Tom remembers Kristin's reaction to the pool scene and how the crew managed safety concerns of the windmill shots. In our review of Crush, Tom talks about the grounded performance of Adam Brody and Clark's complicated relationship with Lana. Michael sheds a tear for Principal Kwan and remembers how he got out of the funeral scene.

Join Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as they share their pinhole point of view on this week's review of Smallvills Episode #20: OBSCURA. The guys grapple with the suspension of disbelief surrounding this particular FOTW episode and explore the drama surrounding the "Clana" vs "Chlark" relationships being developed. That flew by fast… This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum review Episode 21 of Smallville, the Season 1 Finale, TEMPEST. From tornado effects, to a Remy Zero live performance, and fighting Luthors, this episode has it all. Not only do the guys review the series' first cliffhanger episode, but we also leave our rewatch on a bit of a cliffhanger as well. This is the first part of a two part Finale Extravaganza!! It just wouldn't be right wrapping up this season without him. The man, the myth, and the legend John Glover, aka Lionel Luthor, joins Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as we officially wrap up our rewatch of Season 1 of Smallville and the finale episode Tempest. It was a treat talking to Glover. He remembered what it was like going from a guest star to a regular, how deep the theme of family was in the show, and his true opinion on the character of Lionel Luthor. We find out this episode's idea to be included in the pilot was canned, and maybe for good reason?

This week Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum rewatch and review Smallville Season 2 Episode 4: Red. The guys talk about how strange it is seeing Clark go bad, what he means by having split identities, and how sick of Clark's crap. Lana is. Oh yeah... and we're joined by the episode's writer - Emmy Award Winner JEPH LOEB!!! Jeph shares a ton of cool stories behind the scenes and in the writer's room from Smallville. This week the guys shine some light on the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde style episode as we rewatch and review Smallville Season 2 Episode 5: Nocturne. Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum talk about Lana's visits to the cemetery, how Martha begins to own her own storyline, and why everyone seems to be injuring their wrists in the episode. We're graced with a call from Al Gough himself to explain some of the logic that went into this episode surrounding Martha and Lionel. Tom remembers a crazy stunt story while on set and Michael wonders why he was left on top of a glacier.

Want to start out by saying thank you if you made it through this episode of Smallville… and well, misery loves company, so buckle up and join us for our review of Season 2 Episode 6: REDUX. Thank goodness we are joined by Maggie Lawson this week, because not only did she help this episode of Smallville save face, but she also helped make this podcast a whole lot better. This week we discuss all things that went wrong, and a few that went right with this infamous episode. We get some behind-the-scenes information on why this was aired out of order compared to when it was shot during Season 1 and how you can notice it throughout the episode. Tom remembers little tricks that he pulled to get through some of the scenes, Maggie remembers what it was like to guest on Smallville back in the day, and Michael questions why he had those sunglasses throughout Season 2.

Our rewatch rebounds this week as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum review Season 2 Episode 7: LINEAGE. Not only do we get to review a beautifully written and directed episode of Smallville, but we're also joined by two very important people to the show. First - it's been a long time coming, but Annette O'Toole finally joins us! She shares everything about her experience as Martha Kent, questions she had about Clark as a mother of small children at the time, and how she prevented the Kent farm from going up in a blaze. We also bug creator Al Gough about the difference in age between Clark and Lex, how the next couple episodes really picked up after the Redux dud, and why Lineage stood out amongst others. Not only that, but Tom remembers his enjoyment for the adoption storyline scenes and Michael talks about how we really see the conniving and treacherous side of Lionel Luthor start to emerge in this episode.

Our scores may have been high, but this week's episode is definitely a bummer… join us for one of the most emotional reviews yet as we get into Smallville Season 2 Episode 8: RYAN. We revisit memories of working alongside Ryan Kelley on set and the different emotional hurdles we had to overcome in creating this episode. Tom talks about the unique juxtaposition of characters who usually have all the control, being helpless in this episode; while also discussing how he set boundaries while filming. Michael remembers an improvisational outburst that sticks with him to this day, plus the idea of cast members being ‘in the dark' when it came to the success of certain episodes and characters.

After talking about how this is probably the unanimous decision for worst set to work on during the series, the guys get some insight from Al Gough on how important this cave plotline is to the vision of Season 2 and origin story of Clark Kent. Tom remembers working with Tamara Feldman (as Kyla Willowbrook) and how intimidating the wolf was on set. Michael talks about the curse that is ‘knowing Clark's secret' while also giving props to another killer performance from Annette O'Toole.

This week he's baaack… and she's back! Al shares his thoughts on the episode that mirrors Jitters, and discusses why they also were surprised by how ‘over budget' this went. Despite his court ordered anger management, Michael questions a couple scenes where Lex flies off the handle, while also analyzing how Lionel gets creepier and creepier as the series progresses. Tom talks about the iconic scene where Clark leaps a building in a single bound, while also analyzing how Lionel seems to get less blind as the season continues.

We go back to the ‘freak of the week' basics this week folks as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum dive into Smallville Season 3 Episode 7: Magnetic! Tom remembers his time working with Kevin Zegers, one of the worst gags in the history of the show, and why he felt proud of Lana in this episode. Michael talks about his unrelated Magic Castle stories, his deep hatred for yellow cars, and when the cast couldn't stop laughing one day while filming.

This is the one I've been waiting for since Talkville began! Shattered may not be the most monumental Smallville episode, but it's peak Smallville quality-wise: Ken Biller's script is slick and pulsating, his direction (especially that amazing one shot at the Luthor Mansion) captures Lex's deteriorating mental state brilliantly, the montage at the end is chilling (as is Johnny Cash's "Hurt") and Michael Rosenbaum delivers THE defining performance of his career and the show as a whole, IMO. How Michael didn't win an Emmy for Shattered I'll never know.

This week the guys visit the loony bin as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum revisit Smallville Season 3 Episode 9: ASYLUM! After going through the long list of stellar guest stars from JTT… Ian Somerhalder… Shawn Ashmore… Jesse Metcalfe and more… we get into one of our most twisted episodes yet. Michael remembers getting gagged, dropping bombs in front of JTT, and the difficulty of working in constraints. Tom remembers going way back with Ian Somerhalder, unique acting choices in this episode, and his biggest issue with the barbed wire prison escape scene.

Before Michael remembers that one time he actually went blind, Tom talks about ripping off John Glover in preparation for his Ray Charles-esque scenes in this episode. He also remembers what went into his super hearing performance and a funny story from Justin Hartley's first episode. Michael talks about his portrayal of laid back Lex and the process of wardrobe giving Tom his new glasses.

After Michael gets over some of the hair and makeup decision in this episode he reflects on the amount of Lana's friends who end up dying and what he wishes Clark did when Jonathan Kent collapsed in the barn. Tom remembers how dangerous the dynamite-laced house was, the pressure of keeping the WB appearances up, and how he prepared for his emotional scene at the end. One of those weeks where the pod is better than the episode? Hope you dig it.

On your mark… Get set… Woah! Did Clark just kill someone?!? Join Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum as they revisit the cautionary PSA against street racing in Smallville Episode 13 VELOCITY! Before we get into the legality of Clark's actions the guy gush over Sam Jones III's performance in this episode and how it won over Michael. Tom talks about driving the Porsche and his wish for Jonathan in this episode, while Michael questions Lana's judgment and reveals the biggest shock of the series.

After reflecting on times in their career when journalists were trying to get close for a story, the guys reflect on all the truth bombs dropped across Smallville in this episode. Michael talks about the pros and cons of a relationship with a journalist and remembers bringing real life situations with his father into his scenes with Lionel. Tom pokes at yet another scene where Clark deals with syringes and shares a crazy memory from Season 1.

What have you done!?! Phenomenal episode this week as Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum are joined by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar to revisit Season 3 Episode 19: MEMORIA! After Al talks about some of the ‘behind the scenes' conflicts with this storyline and DC, Miles shares his experience with his directorial debut on the series and explains what it was like to direct the show he created in its third season. We get into a lot this episode… Rumors of Batman, Chloe potentially becoming Lois Lane, Tom pranking the crew with his bulge, and Michael drawing similarities between his personal life and his Lex characterization.

Wouldn't be right talking about this episode with the guy, join Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum alongside John Schneider as they talk about the first cast-member directed episode of Smallville in Season 3 Episode 20: TALISMAN!
