The AIVD investigation influences the choices of Mardik and his family, which only sharpens the AIVD investigation. A shocking report arrives at the control room of the Amsterdam police about a bus on a market square. Joëlle chooses a dangerous route, while Mardik becomes the explicit target of the hostage-takers. He realizes that the hostage situation is not just an incident—it is the beginning of a plan that turns out to be much bigger and deadlier than expected.
