Mammoth - Episode Guide

Mammoth is a comedy show about the life of PE teacher Tony Mammoth. Mammoth is a man literally out of time. In 1979 he was a happy-go-lucky PE teacher, leading a school skiing trip to the French Alps. Life was good. Right up until an avalanche decided to ruin his day by sweeping him away to what was surely his death: a death which would break the hearts of all the kids that he taught, almost all of his colleagues and several mothers, and devastate his best friend and wingman Roger Buck.

Except, of course, Mammoth didn't die. He was miraculously found and brought back to life 42 years later. A perfectly preserved man in his forties. Just one born 86 years ago. For a time, he was a global phenomenon. The world was his oyster. But Mammoth has never really liked oysters; he's more of a pub lunch and a pint sort of bloke.

He was given the one thing that everyone at some point wishes they were given - a second chance at life. An opportunity to right wrongs.
But the simple fact is that Mammoth was pretty sure that he absolutely nailed life the first time around, so all he really wanted was his old life back. The same job. The same car. The same friends. Okay, it was bound to feel a little strange at first, but Mammoth had always believed in just getting on with things. And anyway, things couldn't have changed that much since 1979…

PE teacher Tony Mammoth is back from the dead with his old job back. He's determined he'll approach it the same way as in the 1970s, including parents' evening. Along the way, he finds out he has a lot more in common with a pupil's mum than he thought.

Reeling from some recent news that drops a bombshell on his life, Tony Mammoth tries to make up for lost time. But despite his best efforts, things don't go to plan, and he and Theo end up in a fight with a stranger. Meanwhile, his boss, Lucy, has to fight off the local oddballs looking to donate to help her fertility treatment. 

Following the death of his old friend - and pub landlord - Barry, Mammoth decides it's time to find someone special to spend the rest of his life with. He soon finds out that it's hard to date in the modern world, so he has to quickly learn the contemporary dos and don'ts. He soon hits it off with someone but manages to blow it in pure Tony Mammoth style - dead rabbit and all.

Following a panic attack, Tony Mammoth (briefly) decides to get healthy. At the gym, he's confronted by his nemesis, Terry Keane. His previous traumatic experience spurs him on to get revenge on Terry by signing up to a rival over-70s football team. With the help of Roger, he gets fighting fit to be ready for his day of destiny. 

Meanwhile, Mel decides to quit her job and follow her 'dream' - becoming a professional potter. 

Mammoth turns into the protective father figure when Mel goes on a date with a new man, Matthew. But he quickly starts to adore him (mainly on a whim). Whilst trying to develop the world's strangest bromance, he takes his self-appointed role as head of PE very seriously until the pressure gets too much. 

Meanwhile, Mel isn't feeling it with Matthew, and Theo revels in his new bad-boy image. 

Tony Mammoth's life is sweet until his boss and headteacher Mr Cowley is signed off from work with stress. With little sensitivity and thinking purely of maintaining his easy work life, he does whatever it takes to de-stress him and get rid of the younger, popular and eminently more professional temporary headteacher. 

Meanwhile, Mel arranges a big 18th-birthday party for Theo, who desperately wants his mum to stop treating him like a four-year-old. 

It's Tony Mammoth's first Christmas since coming back from the dead, and he's determined to make it a special one with his family.
